Enjoy the perfect combination of medieval heritage and music on this 4-night break to Poland amd the Czech Republic. Krakow has a fascinating history and today is a leading cultural and historic centre of Europe. On this holiday, we include a guided tour of the Old Town of Krakow with entrance to St. Mary's Church. We also visit the Wieliczka Mine, established at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. We also included an excursion to Auschwitz where you can learn about Poland’s history, which now services as a place to remember those who lost their lives there during World War II.
We then move to Ostrava in the Czech Republic and here you will attend the monumental performance of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8, known as the "Symphony of a Thousand. Trojhalí Karolina in Ostrava was selected for its resemblance to the Munich venue where the symphony premiered in 1910. Approximately 600 musicians and singers will perform, including the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Moravian-Silesian Sinfonietta, and the Májovák Karviná Symphonic Wind Orchestra, alongside 11 choirs, conducted by Christian Arming. The concert marks the 115th anniversary of Mahler's death.
