Explore the enthralling city of Romeo and Juliet and take a journey by boat across stunning Lake Garda. Marvel at the architectural gems in Verona’, the city of Romeo and Juliet. Admire the scenery of Lake Garda as we take an excursion to the characteristic town of Peschiera and harbour town of Sirmione. Verona’s internationally renowned Opera Festival is known internationally as one of the most spectacular in the world. Each year, operas are magnificently staged in the awe-inspiring ancient Roman amphitheatre known as the Arena di Verona. The festival has previously hosted some of the world’s greatest opera singers and our 2023 tour includes two fabulous performances; an unforgettable evening with Teatro alla Scala on 31 August and Madama Butterfly on the 02 September.
Program
Day 1:
Your tour will start with a morning flight to Milan. (please note that flight times are subject to
change at airline’s discretion). On arrival, meet your local guide for private coach transfer to the 4*
Hotel Leon D’Oro in Verona. (approx 1 hour 20 min transfer).
Your hotel: The 4* Hotel Leon D’Oro - The 4-star Hotel Leon d’Oro Hotel Leon d’Oro is located an approximate 1.5 km from Piazza Bra square and the Arena di Verona and is just a 15-minute walk from the historic centre. Hotel facilities include a lounge bar and restaurant.
A welcome drink will be served at check-in to allow you get to know your fellow travellers.
The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2:
Today, join your local guide for a 2-hour walking tour of historic Verona. Admire the Arena di Verona), explore the UNESCO-listed historical centre and learn about Verona’s architectural gems.
Verona is located in the heart of the province of Veneto. The fascinating city with its thousand-year history has become famous around the world for the legend of Shakespeare’s masterpiece: Romeo and Juliet. Roman remains, medieval traces, Venetian and Austria-Hungarian testimonies can be found in ancient palaces, on squares, bridges and beautiful churches.
Afternoon at leisure for independent sightseeing.
In the evening, transfer with your guide to the Piazza Arsenale where a walk through the beautiful streets in Verona’s old town leads you directly to the restaurant on the famous Piazza Brá. Enjoy a pre-opera dinner before taking your seat in the Arena di Verona for the musical highlight; a performance by Teatro alla Scala.
Performance start time: 21:00
After the performance, return transfer from Arena di Verona / Piazza Arsenale to your hotel.
Day 3:
Today, visit the largest lake in Italy, Lake Garda, on a half-day excursion from Verona visiting Peschiera and picturesque harbor town of Sirmione.
Peschiera, one of Lake Garda's most characteristic towns, lies at the bottom of the Veronese coast, at a point where the waters of Lake Garda flows into the River Mincio where the first settlements date back to the Bronze Age. As part of the tour, we take a lake cruise from Peschiera del Garda to the beautiful harbor town of Sirmione. A wide moat separates Sirmione's traffic-calmed old town from the mainland, which stretches for four kilometers into Lake Garda. Next to the only bridge in town there is the beautiful moated castle and the romantically winding, colorful old town makes this a stunning Italian town. Visit a traditional winery in the Vineyards of Lake Garda and afterwards return to Verona.

After the performance, transfer from Arena di Verona / Piazza Arsenale to your hotel
Day 5:
Check out of your hotel. Transfer with your guide to Milan airport for your return flight.

Flight information
One small bag (size of a ladies handbag) and one standard piece of luggage is included in your tour price. (10 kilos carry-on). Checked in luggage is available to purchase prior to travel, prices varies according to baggage weight. Please note that checked-in luggage should be booked at the time of booking and must be booked with a minimum of 14 days prior to travel. Flight times are with Ryanair into Bergamo. Please note that we reserve the right to change both airline and airline times as airline schedules are subject to change. In addition, we reserve the right to change the departure date by a day or two in accordance with airline schedule and rates
Tour Activities
Please note that there is a fair amount of walking on this tour. Ours are active holidays. Walking, stair-climbing and standing around for periods are unavoidable aspects of this tour. This tour is suitable for those of a normal fitness but may not be suitable for those who need support. Walking and getting on and off a coach several times a day is part of the tour.

This tour is based on the venue performance and not the artists performing. Please note that artists/conductor can change at the venues discretion. The Arena di Verona reserves the right to change the advertised arrangements of any performance in the event of illness or any cause beyond their control. This includes non-appearance of any named artist/orchestra. IFC have no control over performing artists and will substitute the performance should any changes out of our control be advised by the local venue.
