Beautiful buildings of many architectural styles including beautiful palaces, ancient streets, public gardens and street cafes make it one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Serious music lovers have long considered Vienna to be one of Europe’s premier music destinations. No other city has been home to so many composers of international renown: some, such as Schubert, Strauss, Schoenberg and Berg were born there, others, such as Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Brahms and Mahler chose to live there.

Discover more of Vienna. Luxuriate in a magical concert evening at the Musikverein with the Vienna Mozart Orchestra. Marvel at what you see and hear on our “Highlights of Vienna” City Tour. Explore the Johann Strauss apartment, the Beethoven Pasqualati House and see Hieronymus Bosch’s Last Judgement Triptych at the Painting Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts hosted bby the Theatremuseum.

Day 1

Your tour will start with an early afternoon flight to Vienna. Flying with Aer Lingus, flight departs Dublin at 12:15 and arrives in Vienna at 16:05 (flight times are subject to change at airlines discretion).

On arrival in Vienna, you will meet your local Viennese guide for private coach transfer to the
4* Hotel Radisson Blu Park Royal Palace where you will stay for 3-nights on a bed & breakfast basis.

The hotel: 4* Radisson Blu Park Royal Palace

The hotel offers 233 rooms full of soft earth colors and natural light in Vienna. Stay connected with high-speed, wireless Internet and flat-screen TVs, wake up to outstanding views of the Schönbrunn Palace or the hotel park and find peace and relaxation in the wellness and fitness area (extra fees may be charged for wellness area).

The historic beauty of Vienna awaits right outside the hotel doors along with attractions such as the Museum of Technology, the Palm House greenhouse and Schönbrunn Zoo. Thanks to the hotels proximity to trams and subways, you can enjoy quick and easy access to other exciting areas of Vienna.

Day 2

Today, join your local guide for our ‘Highlights of Vienna’ city tour. See the city sights including the State Opera, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Natural History and the Hofburg, the Imperial Winter Palace. Your city tour will also take you across the Danube, where you will see modern Vienna with the Danube Tower, the United Nations buildings and the newly constructed apartment buildings. A tour highlight for many is the controversial multi-coloured Hundertwasserhaus and the KunstHaus, both designed by the famous Austrian artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

Today’s tour includes a guided tour of Johann Strauss Apartment. In 1867 in this apartment, Johann Strauss composed the world-famous waltz "The Blue Danube", Austria's "unofficial national anthem"! Strauss lived seven years on Praterstrasse, then a fashionable and elegant Viennese suburban street. His own instruments, furniture and paintings illustrate Strauss's work as a composer, musician and conductor, but the whole presentation brings Strauss close to us in private as well, a man who married three times, an enthusiast at billiards and cards, and a caricaturist. Moreover, there are reminiscences of his other apartments, the Vienna ballrooms and concert halls of his time, and also the other composers in the family circle: Johann Strauss the Elder and the talented brothers Josef and Eduard.

Tour duration: approximately 4 hours

The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore the city sights independently. Perhaps take in one of Vienna’s world class museums or Art Galleries, or simply visit one of the city’s renowned coffee houses and watch the world go by.
In the early evening, meet your fellow travellers in the hotel restaurant for a three-course pre-concert dinner. After dinner, depart by coach for the Vienna Musikverein for the evening performance by the Vienna Mozart Orchestra presenting the works of Mozart.
With category 1 tickets.

Coach transfer back to your hotel at the end of the evening

Day 3

Vienna, one of the most beautiful of Europe's historic and cultural cities, has long been one of the Europe’s most important centres of music and art. The city offers many fascinating museums and art galleries and today you will visit two the Beethoven Pasqualati House and the Theatermuseum t admire the "Bosch on Stage" exhibition.

The day will begin with a visit to the Beethoven Pasqualati House. The "Pasqualatihaus", named after its owner Josef Benedikt Baron Pasqualati, was built in the eighteenth century and is located on Mölker Bastei, part of the remains of the old city fortifications. Altogether Ludwig van Beethoven worked in Vienna for thirty-five years. He spent eight years living in this apartment on the fourth floor. The spectacular view over the then still undeveloped site of the fortification approaches towards the northern and north-western suburbs of Vienna kept drawing the composer back to Mölker Bastei after his various short stays in the country. Here he worked on his 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th symphonies, among others, and above all on his opera "Fidelio". Besides numerous documents illustrating the life and work of Beethoven, there is the famous 1804/05 portrait of Beethoven by Willibrord Joseph Mähler and many personal items owned by the composer.

A traditional Austrian lunch is included in today’s tour and will be taken at the Cafe Central.

After lunch, visit the Theatermuseum: "Bosch on Stage" exhibition.

The Academy of Fine Arts of Vienna located on Schillerplatz is currently undergoing major refurbishments. In the interim the Theatermuseum is playing host to the Academy’s Paintings Gallery and Graphic Collection. Marvel at the highlight of the Collection, namely Hieronymus Bosch’s Last Judgement Triptych, as well as unrivalled masterpieces of European paintings, featuring key works by Lucas Cranach the Elder, Titian, Peter Paul Rubens and van Dyck as well as by Rembrandt and masters of the Golden Age of Dutch painting. Also on show are works from the late Baroque period and Viennese classicism by artists such as Tiepolo, Guardi, Lampi and Füger
